June Tips
· Take softwood cuttings of shrubs, short-lived perennials, woody herbs and conservatory exotics
· Deadhead repeat-flowering roses, unless you want decorative hips later
· Hoe between the plants rows in the vegetable patch to control weed seedlings
· Thin out fruit trees, reducing clusters to single apples and plums and leave 4 inches between plums
· When watering, concentrate on plants growing against walls, containers and hanging baskets
· Sow plants for winter and spring colour (polyanthus and pansies)
