September Tips

·        Scarify the lawn by scratching with a wire rake. Put dead grass and moss on the compost heap

·         Bring tender herbs such as basil or French tarragon indoors or put in a greenhouse

·         Plant evergreens so their roots have a chance to draw up moisture before the winter

·         Start to clear out summer bedding plants if you plan to replace them with wallflowers

·         Plant spring flowering bulbs

·         Tidy shrub or climbing roses by cutting any spindly or dead branches
