May Tips

•   Keep a close eye on bedding plants and be frost aware. Water sparingly until they are growing well.

•  Prune evergreen shrubs to restore their shape whilst there is plenty of time to produce new growth.

•  Pinch out clematis, helianthus and variegated shrubs.

• Dead-head fading tulips, lift out bulbs in summer and store in a dry place before autumn replanting.

• Stake tall perennials (delphiniums and peonies) that might fall over.

•  Check fence panels and protect with preservative.
