December Tips

·         Remove leaves from around alpines and spread grit round clumps to improve drainage

·         Tie up unsupported shoots of climbing roses to prevent wind damage

·         Allow compost to dry out before re-watering poinsettias to prevent loss of colour and leaf drop

·         Prune overgrown deciduous hedges while they are dormant

·         Deadhead winter-flowering pansies and violas

·         Cut berried holly and store in water in a cool place for Christmas decorations
