June Tips

·         Take softwood cuttings of shrubs, short-lived perennials, woody herbs and conservatory exotics

·         Deadhead repeat-flowering roses, unless you want decorative hips later

·         Hoe between the plants rows in the vegetable patch to control weed seedlings

·         Thin out fruit trees, reducing clusters to single apples and plums and leave 4 inches between plums

·         When watering, concentrate on plants growing against walls, containers and hanging baskets

·         Sow plants for winter and spring colour (polyanthus and pansies)
